When you were a child, did your parents tell you not to go outside with wet hair? "You'll catch your death of cold!" Were you told not to get too close to a sick friend because you might catch their virus or microbes?

If you were like me, you probably imagined these ugly, vicious creatures lurking out there just waiting to invade. 

Whenever I coughed or sneezed or had a slight fever as a kid, I was immediately rushed to the family doctor for antibiotics to kill the big-bad-bugs.

Instead of learning to listen to my body's signals, and to take care of it naturally, I developed the belief that "doctor knows best".

When I was 7 years old, I spent 5 days in hospital with pneumonia. Somehow in this greenhouse for microbes and negative beliefs I learned that I was a "sick kid" and I came back home with bronchitis that soon matured into chronic asthma, just like my dad and grandma had since childhood. My grandmother actually died during an asthma attack. I assumed that I would have asthma forever, would probably die from it, and that my kids would have asthma too.

For 20 years I suffered the consequences of those childhood conclusions until one life-changing night.

I was in India during the monsoon period. One night I was dancing ecstatically in a huge tent in an ashram. The rain was pouring and I had the asthma attack of my life. I'm not sure anymore why, but I chose to leave the ashram alone, virtually crawling to the hospital that was luckily only 200 meters away.

A young guy, wearing no uniform, interviewed me, opened a drawer, pulled out an unwrapped needle, put some liquid in it and injected it in my arm.

I was certain I was going to die. This hospital had many AIDS patients and I didn't see him sterilize the needle.

It was the only time in my life I vowed, "If I stay alive after this night I am never going to suffer from asthma again". Well, sure enough, half an hour later I was released to my apartment feeling much better.

A couple of months later I came back home and I was looking for a way to heal my asthma. The first thing I heard was about was a 3-evening course for healing. I had never done anything like that before. Before I knew it I was sitting in the class and two nights later I gave myself my first healing session.

My asthma disappeared immediately. That was 10 years ago.

What happened?
I moved beyond my beliefs that stated: "I'm going to have asthma till the day I die" and "Doctor knows best" into an unknown territory. Suddenly my awareness changed and a new belief that "I can heal myself" became reality.

I have studied and practiced several holistic healing methods in the last 10 years. I treated many people, including myself, and saw too many medical miracles to believe they are miracles.

Until the change of my beliefs that night in India, I was always sickly - not just the asthma, but I used to catch colds, anginas, bellyaches, skin stuff...

Since then, my health has been perfect.
I haven't seen a doctor for 10 years, haven't taken even a painkiller, haven't had any pains or physical complaints, and of course my asthma is gone.

I am not, in any way, suggesting that someone with a medical condition NOT seek advice and treatment from a physician. And the following examples of healing that I experienced do NOT constitute medical advice. Rather, they are a testimony of my belief in holistic, energy healing over traditional clinical practice.

A friend of mine had very aggressive breast cancer. As soon as they found out, the doctors rushed her to the operation room and cut one of her breasts. A week later they scanned her tissue and found three spots that they suspected were cancerous. They gave her a month before the next operation. She came to me and we started treating her with energy healing. After a few sessions, she went back to the hospital and they scanned her breast. They couldn't find any spots. But instead of letting her go home to heal and recuperate, they insisted on removing the rest of the breast - just in case...

A year ago my father was hospitalized for an emergency operation in his colon. A part of the colon had died and the doctors were afraid that it would become septic. They scheduled surgery for 10 days later.

I suggested sending him healing energy from far away. He agreed but said that he wouldn't take any chances. He was 62 and planned on staying alive for a while so he still planned to undergo the surgery.
So every night I sent him energy from a distance.

The morning before the operation, they scanned his colon again in order to define where exactly to cut. To their surprise (or shock) the whole colon was alive and well.

They cancelled the operation, and in the talk with the head surgeon, my father asked how it was possible.

"It isn't!" said the surgeon.

My father told him about the healing and the respectable doctor said: "Look, officially - energy healing doesn't exist. Off the record, if it works for you - keep doing it and be healthy".

Most of us probably learned about healing energy indirectly when we were kids. If you fell as a child and hurt your knee, your parents gave you a kiss on the cut and said, "There, all better now."

Magically it did feel better!
This is the power of suggestion used for healing.

The suggestion is good, yet, the healing power remains in the hands of someone else - in this case the healer is your mother or father.
Instead, when your children hurt their knee, let them kiss it and see that it feels better - this way you teach them that they can heal themselves.

Instead of taking a pill when you have a fever, or rushing to the doctor, you should listen to the message your body is sending: "The temperature is rising in order to kill off an invading germ or to rid it of toxins. Drink fluids, go to bed, and let me do my work!"

Often, chronic diseases carry a message for us and when we treat the symptom instead of the cause we only make our condition worse. People take high blood pressure medication to treat their hypertension, but don't eliminate the stress that started the problem in the first place. People will inject themselves with insulin several times a day, but won't exercise and stick to a healthful diet. 

Our daughter, Thom, is almost 7 years old now. We never vaccinated her (as vaccinations actually weaken the immune system and are usually not effective as new viruses and mutations are getting stronger all the time).

Until now, she has never been sick. She had chicken pox, and mumps - each left her without anything after 48 hours. She had never seen a doctor. She actually thinks that the hospital and dentist are fun places to go, and every now and then she asks to go there as if it is a trip to Disney World.

We did teach her simple energy healing, which she gladly gives to her friends, her Barbie and us, whenever she feels like.

Holistic medicine concentrates on a person's "total wellness", rather than just isolated ailments and specific symptoms. Modern medical science, unfortunately, focuses on the smallest components of a disease - certain protein leads to a certain cellular activity, etc. - and often overlooks the bigger picture of health.

Don't get me wrong... Western medical science has its benefits, particularly in treating emergencies like heart attacks, strokes, accident injuries, etc. But I believe that in most cases, a holistic preventative approach to health - that cares for the physical, mental, emotional and energetic sides - is much more beneficial.

Not long ago, doctors in China were paid only so long as their patients were healthy. If someone in the village got sick, the doctor had to bring them back to health for free.

It seems to me that is the correct incentive for modern medicine!
